Introducing the members part 4/ Sigga Björg Sigurðardóttir

Sigga Björg Sigurðardóttir is known for her imaginative drawings, installations, videos and books. She has created a unique visual world where fantasy, humor and horror go hand in hand.
In her works, she threads the emotional life in all its chaos and creates moods that are almost impossible to put into words, but with her characteristic style, she manages to express the most subtle nuances. In Sigga Björg's drawings, she mixes ink splashes and randomness with fine precision and patterns. Her works are often created equally on the walls of showrooms and on paper.
Drawing is her primary medium but video also plays a big role in her practice. In her videos she uses technically primitive methods, stop motion video, to record the process of creating a drawing, frame by frame, with a camera facing down on her drawing table.
Sigga Björg lives and works in Reykjavík. Her works have been exhibited widely abroad and in all major art museums and art spaces in Iceland. Sigurðardóttir ́s works are in the collections of all major art museums in Iceland as well as in art collections in the Nordic countries, Belgium, England, Switzerland, Germany and more.
Sigurðardóttir graduated with an MA degree from the Glasgow School of Art (2004) and a BA degree from the Iceland Academy of the Arts (2001).
